Time-of-Use

A new optional one-year pilot program, beginning Aug. 1, 2026, gives Boone Power members the opportunity to save by shifting some energy use to lower-cost times of day.

How Time-of-Use Works

A time-of-use rate reflects the fact that the price of electricity varies depending on the time of day and overall demand for electricity. Energy costs more during high-demand periods (on-peak hours) and less during lower-demand periods (off-peak and super off-peak hours).

How Can I Save with Time-of-Use?

Shifting household chores like laundry and running dishwashers to off-peak windows can help you reduce your bill by taking advantage of the lower off-peak rate. You can also use smart plugs to charge devices like smartphones and computers during the lowest-cost hours. Members with electric vehicles can benefit from super off-peak charging. Is Time-of-Use Right For Me?

Our custom calculator uses your last 12 months of usage data to estimate how the time-of-use rate may impact your bill. This can help members understand whether shifting their energy use would be necessary to see savings with the time-of-use rate.

Use your account number and last name as it appears on your Boone Power account to use the tool. You can find your account number on your Boone Power bill or in the SmartHub mobile app by clicking "Pay" from the home screen.
