A new optional one-year pilot program, beginning Aug. 1, 2026, gives Boone Power members the opportunity to save by shifting some energy use to lower-cost times of day.
A time-of-use rate reflects the fact that the price of electricity varies depending on the time of day and overall demand for electricity. Energy costs more during high-demand periods (on-peak hours) and less during lower-demand periods (off-peak and super off-peak hours).

Shifting household chores like laundry and running dishwashers to off-peak windows can help you reduce your bill by taking advantage of the lower off-peak rate. You can also use smart plugs to charge devices like smartphones and computers during the lowest-cost hours. Members with electric vehicles can benefit from super off-peak charging. Our custom calculator uses your last 12 months of usage data to estimate how the time-of-use rate may impact your bill. This can help members understand whether shifting their energy use would be necessary to see savings with the time-of-use rate.
