Boone REMC is now Boone Power! We rebranded in August 2025 to better reflect who we are and what we do.
As a member-owned electric cooperative, Boone Power is governed by a board of directors representing the membership districts that make up our service territory. Each year, we hold an election for three of our nine board districts. Each Boone Power member can participate in the annual election of directors.
Nomination Process
Members living in districts up for election and who are interested in running for a board director position must complete the Director Candidate Questionnaire and collect signatures from 3% of the members residing in their board district, by downloading this Petition Form. Interested members may call our office at 800-897-7362 to determine the number of signatures needed to make up 3%. The 2026 election will determine representation from Districts 1, 2, and 3. A nominating committee, comprised of members of Boone Power, reviews candidates for eligibility.
The petition deadline for the 2026 director election is Jan. 31, 2026.
Election Process
Candidates who meet the qualifications are placed on the ballot. If only one person is nominated for a district, the bylaws allow that single name to appear on the ballot for that district. If more than one candidate is nominated in a district, members choose between them.
Each year, members vote for candidates in three of the nine districts. Members can vote for each district up for election each year, regardless of their residence's district. Each member is emailed information about the election, with a direct link to vote from their email.
Members are also able to vote via the SmartHub mobile app, or by requesting a paper ballot, either in our office or by completing the Paper Ballot Request Form.
