Boone Power offers free energy evaluations that can help you analyze your home, appliances, and energy use. Our energy advisor will help you identify common problems that increase energy use.

Efficiency Inspections

Boone Power also offers extensive efficiency inspections, December-February (weather-permitting) for a fee. Our technician will inspect the interior and exterior, attic, and basement or crawl space to check insulation levels and look for ductwork issues and building envelope problems that can increase energy bills. You’ll receive a detailed report that can help you improve comfort and reduce energy bills.

Load Control Switches

A load control switch cycles your electric water heater off when electricity is in high demand. Using less electricity when demand is very high (when temperatures are extremely low in winter and extremely high in summer) helps keep electric rates from rising.

Sense Monitors

Boone Power owns several Sense home energy monitors that can help our members better understand how they are consuming electricity and how they can conserve. A Sense monitor is a device installed on a home’s electrical panel that detects and records energy use in real time.

Our energy advisors also provide demonstrations on electrical safety and the science behind electricity for classes or other student groups upon request. Energy Saving Tips

The cheapest energy is the energy you don’t use. Here are a few quick and easy tips to help you conserve:

Upgrade your lights to ENERGY STAR® LEDs. These bulbs don’t just last longer, they also use a lot less power to operate.
Set your thermostat high in the summer and low in the winter. Even adjustments of just a few degrees can help you save a lot of energy over time.
Replace the filter in your HVAC. Dirty filters make your system work a lot harder to heat and cool your home.
Lower your hot water heater’s temperature. You probably won’t notice the difference, but you’ll definitely see the savings.
Seal your ceiling. Gaps in your ceiling and around cutouts in the drywall can result in higher costs in heating and cooling.
