Boone REMC is now Boone Power. We've rebranded, but we’re still the same local electric cooperative delivering safe, reliable electricity to Greater Boone County.

Fuel Mix

Boone Power's energy supply is diversified through its wholesale power provider, Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA).

For members interested in further supporting renewable energy, Boone Power offers the EnviroWatts program and Co-op Solar.

Boone Power’s wholesale power provider is Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA).  As a generation and transmission cooperative, WVPA produces energy and delivers it to Boone Power. As a distribution cooperative, Boone Power delivers that electricity to our members’ homes and businesses.

As a not-for-profit energy producer, WVPA’s rates are generally reflective of the company’s costs to generate and transmit energy; those costs usually make up about 70% of an end user’s electricity bill.

WVPA’s fuel mix includes a variety of resources, including natural gas, coal, renewables, and nuclear. See image below for more information.
