Boone REMC is now Boone Power. We've rebranded, but we’re still the same local electric cooperative delivering safe, reliable electricity to Greater Boone County.
Boone REMC Breaks Ground on New Facility to Support Growth and Service Excellence

Board Chairman Noel Kendall, President & CEO Bill Conley, and Building Committee Chairman Mark Gruninger
Boone REMC broke ground on its new facility on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024. A groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of a project designed to enhance operations and prepare the cooperative for future growth.
The ceremony was attended by employees, members of the board of directors, and representatives from its construction partners.
The project reflects Boone REMC’s commitment to providing reliable service to its growing membership.
“This is a milestone moment for our cooperative,” said Noel Kendall, board chairman.
“In the 25 years since we moved into our current building, we’ve seen remarkable growth. In that time, our meter count has increased by 140%! This new facility will provide us with the space and tools we need to support our mission of service excellence, expand our equipment and infrastructure, and ensure quick response to service interruptions.”
The new facility will feature a dedicated dispatch area, expanded meeting spaces, and a larger warehouse to accommodate the size and needs of modern utility equipment.
Boone REMC’s President & CEO Bill Conley highlighted the cooperative’s pioneering history as Indiana’s first rural electric cooperative and its enduring commitment to the community.
“Today’s groundbreaking is a celebration of Boone REMC’s legacy of service and innovation,” said Conley. “Formed in 1935, Boone REMC has grown from energizing a 60-mile line for 185 members to serving over 19,000 meters. This project lays the foundation for our future, enabling us to continue improving quality of life for those we serve.”
The new facility will maintain Boone REMC’s central location, with easy access to Interstate 65, and meet the needs of current and future staff as they fulfill the cooperative’s mission of delivering reliable electric service.
Following the ceremony, representatives from the project’s partner organizations joined Boone REMC leaders for photos, and attendees were invited to take home a commemorative “grounds for celebration” bag of coffee provided by Boone County business The Daily Grind, the coffee supplier for Hattie’s Coffee House in Whitestown.
